I'm sure it has to be something like they are severely limiting the resources it ca use. It would be really cool if one of the very smart people here got bored one day and had a look to see if there was some way to speed MSM up, even locally. In fact, if you have a spare Windows licence laying around, that you can use for a virtual machine, it might be worth spinning up a minimal VM and trying that. The only way I've found it to run at a decent speed on Vmware is to have a Windows VM on that host, set the IP of the host in hosts within the VM, and then open MSM and connect to it. Have you had a chance to leave MSM open for a while and see if it populates? By the way, I've had the same speed issues between two Windows servers trying to remotely manage MS on the same network running MegaRAID. I use Google and Spiceworks as my RAID card support now. I used to use Adaptec exclusively because they were the only company that had decent support.
